Perth Festival
Reimagining event discovery and booking for Australia’s longest-running Arts festival
Reimagining event discovery and booking for Australia’s longest-running Arts festival
Perth Festival is Australia’s longest-running arts festival, presenting world-class performances across music, theatre, literature, film, and more. Heading into their 2025 season, the Festival needed a new website that could handle the scale of their program while overcoming long-standing challenges around event discovery and booking. Building upon our partnership that began in 2019, the new site sought to encourage deeper browsing, make the booking process even more intuitive, and ultimately drive stronger engagement and commercial growth.
We designed and built a new digital platform that balances creative expression with practical performance, ensuring the festival’s identity shines while solving key audience and operational challenges. Alongside delivering a refreshed brand expression and enhanced event discovery built on the flexible Umbraco CMS, we also reimagined the booking process, extending Perth Festival’s Tessitura TNEW implementation with a custom on-site cart solution.
This bespoke cart solution saw:
Audiences able to collect events while browsing, keeping them in discovery mode longer and encouraging them to explore more of the program.
A seamless transition into a customised TNEW pre-cart flow, which cycled users through each chosen event to select seats and tickets before final checkout.
A booking journey that combined the freedom of on-site browsing with the robustness of Tessitura checkout, delivering a user experience that was both intuitive and commercially impactful.
The new Perth Festival website launched in time for the 2025 season, delivering measurable improvements across engagement, booking behaviour, and brand presence.
Bold new identity: The refreshed design captured the energy of the festival, inspiring audiences and enhancing the Festival’s profile.
Stronger engagement: Audiences could freely explore events and build personalised shortlists before committing to purchase.
Larger cart sizes: The on-site cart encouraged users to book multiple events at once, increasing average order value.
Improved conversion: Streamlined pre-cart and checkout integration with Tessitura reduced friction and boosted sales.
Operational efficiency: Automated event data management and flexible content tools gave the Perth Festival team more agility and control.
